Turkish Kurds into the Way Down


Diyarbarkir: Thousands of Kurds took to the streets in the city of Diyarbakir and Tunceli, Turkey, Wednesday (4 / 5). They want to attend the funeral of a Kurdish guerrillas who were killed in military operations last week.

Clashes broke out when residents of Kurds threw stones at police and Molotov cocktails. Toss with Turkish police returned fire water cannon and tear gas. A policeman was seriously injured and three others were lightly injured. They rushed to the hospital.

PKK party has terminated its six-month ceasefire. They brought fears growing violence in Turkey ahead of parliamentary elections June 12, 2011.

Thousands of Kurds clashed with police while celebrating Nowruz, or the Persian new year. Persian new year celebration which originally were peaceful, became violent when security forces tried to disperse the mass.

Turkish authorities are banning these celebrations since 2005. Persian New Year is a sign of the commencement of a new hope in the Middle East and Central Asia as well as a symbol of freedom for the Kurds in Turkey.
